Drink From The Fountain Of Youth
One of the most beautiful women in the world, Cleopatra, used rose water in her beauty regimen, which was said to have contributed to her youthful glow. Her secret has become a staple of the beauty industry as the main ingredient in facial toners, masks, perfumes and essential oils. Rose water tightens skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles.
Drinking rose water also has many health benefits. Rose water’s sweet smell and soothing taste is said to help reduce stress, treat depression and bring comfort to people in mourning. Rose water can also be used to stay hydrated and gives the body a cooling effect. Consuming rose water also helps to relieve bloating and constipation.
So, I created an incredibly delicious tonic using rose water. I call it a “White Rose” and Scott is now totally addicted to it.
½ cup of Califa Farms Vanilla Almond Milk (you’ll get the added benefit of protein)
1/3 cup Vanilla Silk Almond Creamer (not too high in sugar, yet incredibly creamy, sweet and delicious)
Splash of Rose Water (check your local grocery store or specialty market. (I picked up my bottle of Rose Water for just $2.39 at Gelson’s supermarket.)
(optional: Scott adds in a few drops of liquid cayenne pepper to give it a little spice).
Stir and enjoy! Feel free to add more creamer and/or rose water based on personal preference. This drink is best served cold. It is seriously amazing.
If you want to turn this tonic into a cocktail, just add vodka. Look out White Russian, the White Rose is the new it cocktail.
By the way, if you prefer a hot tonic, add a splash of rose water to your chamomile tea before bedtime. I call this one a “Gypsy Rose.”
