 Sensational Sunsets And Romance Await

On The Isle of Santorini…

Astarte Suites located on the Greek isle of Santorini is a magical and romantic place to visit. It was voted one of the “21 Amazing Hotels To Visit Before You Die.” Known for being one of the ten best places in the world to watch the Sunset, Santorini is a must visit destination and Astarte Suites is where you’ll want to stay.

We had the pleasure of staying at the family owned and operated luxury all suites resort, Astarte Suites, on our honeymoon and had a wonderful experience at the hotel. The intimate resort with just thirteen suites, won the Travelers Choice Award in 2013, which is an honor that is much deserved.

Here are our top five reasons why you must visit Astarte Suites with the love of your life:

#5: Views That Will Take Your Breath Away: The resort is set on a cliff-top and the balcony from our suite overlooked the bright blue Aegean Sea and Santorini’s caldera. The scenery was picturesque and you can’t help but feeling at peace in this dramatically beautiful setting.

#4. You’re One Of The Family: Brothers George and Kostas Moschotis and their parents personally greeted us upon our arrival and the entire family was so hospitable and gracious during our stay. Whatever you need while in Santorini, George and Kostas are there to help with reservations and advice to make your stay amazing. When we checked in there was a delicious fruit platter and pastries waiting for us in our suite as a welcome gift from the family.

Tip: Email with George and Kostas when you book your trip and ask them to help you with dinner reservations, private boat and wine tours, car rentals etc. They are experts on all things Santorini and will help make your stay magical. If you’re anything like us and get sea-sick, then skip the “yacht cruise” which was a nauseating six hour boat trip from hell (more about that crazy adventure in our video review). Your best bet is to make a day trip to the Black Beach and Red Beach where you can sunbathe and swim in the sparkling sea. If you fancy yourself a sailor, then good on ya, because you’ll enjoy hours of boating, cocktails and dinner aboard a beautiful small yacht.

#3: Breakfast On Your Own Private Balcony: One of our favorite features of the hotel is that every night you select what you want to eat for breakfast and at what time and then it is delivered to your private balcony the next morning. We awoke each morning to the most delicious feast of chocolate croissants and fresh baked muffins, tropical juices, incredible fruit, coffee and tea. We enjoyed our breakfast while looking out into the sea and it was an awesome way to start our day.

#2: Luxury Is In The Details: Astarte Suites is a beautiful and luxurious all suites resort. When we checked in we were given a much-appreciated complimentary upgrade to their gorgeous Honeymoon Suite. Our suite had our own private Jacuzzi in the room with a Swarovski crystal encrusted twinkling ceiling and a moon roof that opened up so we can enjoy the stars while soaking in our private tub. Our balcony had our own private mini pool and a table and chairs to enjoy al fresco dining. The hotel has a communal infinity pool with a chromotherapy LED lighting system with an incredible view of the deep blue sea and nearby rocky cliffs. Each guest room comes with free wi-fi (although you’ll want to unplug and just enjoy the fabulous scenery), cable TV, an iPod dock and beautiful stone detailed decor and candelabras.

#1: Magical Sunsets: Astarte Suites is just minutes away by car from the lighthouse of Akrotiri which is the best place in Santorini to watch the sunset. Wear sneakers or flats as you walk down to watch the Sunset while seated on rock formations. It is a breathtaking spot to take gorgeous photos with your husband or wife. On any given day you’ll probably find 50-100 people taking in the sunset together. It is a very zen and peaceful time to watch such a beautiful act of nature with people from all over the world.

Tip: One of the best times of the year to visit Santorini is between late September through early October when the weather is warm and sunny but the island isn’t over-crowded. You can get a little bit of a discount on hotels at this time.
